Summer 1976. Hoosier Pass, Colorado, near Fairplay. We began our Bikecentennial ride in Reedsport, Ore., and this was the, um, high point. Bike is a Centurion Le Mans, purchased new in 1974. After the ride ended in Yorktown, Va., took a solo jaunt to DC and saw the sights. Got home and rebuilt the bike with single 40 tooth chain wheel, new cluster, fenders, and a very cool plain silver paint job. Sadly, I left it unlocked one night at work and haven't seen it since.
