Wiley Miller, Non Sequitur
Is there anybody who has it figured out better than Wiley Miller?

Is the Democratic Party just another tentacle of the plutocracy? Do the Democrats know that, deep down, they and the Republicans have been serving the same masters for decades?

Monitor Pass
Rode from the intersection of Highways 395 and 89 to the top of Monitor Pass. This is one of the peaks in the Death Ride. Took me three hours up and 20 minutes down. People who complete the entire Death Ride have my utmost admiration.

65 Austin Healy Sprite
My folks put a down payment on this nifty Sprite as a high school graduation present. A great summer vehicle in Orange County.

Tour de Tahoe
Rode around Lake Tahoe. 72 miles. Elevations approximately 6250 to 7000 feet.
Olympic Bike Shop in Tahoe City. One of the best bike shops in the world.
Nice day on the Nevada side.
A very nice day on the Nevada side.
Amazing grates.
Tunnel vision.
Nice day on the California side, too.
Back in familiar territory.
Watch for bears, er, bikers.
Near the home stretch.
One more mile to go.
Crossing the finish line.

Reno to Sacramento, April 1981
Reno to Sacramento, April 1981. There are canyons cut by the rivers on the west slope of the Sierras. Many of the roads in and around said canyons are not parallel to the horizon.

Intention and Motivation
Is it the intention of schools which offer the Master of Business Administration degree that more and more of the earth's wealth should be under the control of fewer and fewer people?

Raleigh Grand Prix
Schwinn Varsity
1972 Schwinn Varsity. Rode it all over LA and Orange County. A great tank of a bike. Here we are at the corner of Pico and Sepulveda. Dr. Demento would be proud.
Schwinn Varsity
My '62 was green. At first it was way too big for me. I must have looked pretty funny shifting my hips from side to side trying to keep my feet on the pedals. Took my first "tour" from our house to Corona Del Mar -- a ride of about 13 miles each way. Great thing about the Varsity, you could take a flying leap off curbs and it would still ride okay. When I got my driver's license in 1967 I sold the bike and with the proceeds bought some Wilson Sam Snead Blue Ridge golf clubs.
Schwinn Spitfire 24"
Prior to Christmas 1958 I believed in Santa Claus. After I saw this bike behind a sheet in the garage on December 23, I changed my mind. But the bike was the absolute BEST. The Jas. Jones Schwinn shop in Woodland Hills sold some very cool decals of skulls and stuff, which I plastered all over the fenders. Eventually got high riser handlebars -- with goose neck, no less -- and a headlight and taillight w/ generator. My brother received my old 20" Spitfire, which had been repainted and reseated.

Nishiki International
Centurion Le Mans
Summer 1976. Hoosier Pass, Colorado, near Fairplay. We began our Bikecentennial ride in Reedsport, Ore., and this was the, um, high point. Bike is a Centurion Le Mans, purchased new in 1974. After the ride ended in Yorktown, Va., took a solo jaunt to DC and saw the sights. Got home and rebuilt the bike with single 40 tooth chain wheel, new cluster, fenders, and a very cool plain silver paint job. Sadly, I left it unlocked one night at work and haven't seen it since.
